Position overview

Workstream is looking for an operations lead to join our team to help build a highly effective organization through our people and processes.


You will gain broad exposure across all business areas, building an in-depth understanding of how to successfully run a business day-to-day. You will do this by working directly with the founders, supporting them on all operational needs.


As our first operations lead, you will have the unique opportunity to optimize processes and build our structure from ground up. This position is a key role in the company that will be the basis of our growth and success.

This is a remote position.

Role and responsibilities

1. Company operations (80%)

Objective: Develop and optimize processes for smooth operations

  • Finance and accounting

- Help to run monthly payroll, commission and expense reimbursement

- Prepare budget reports for each team and for the company

- Review and track all operational invoices and ensure they are paid

- Manage relationships with key vendors (e.g. accounting firm, partners)

- Coordinate all travel booking for business trips or retreats

  • Legal

- Communicate with legal counsel on Workstream issues

- Own and update all company legal documents and vendors (term sheets, cap table, privacy policy)

  • Company administration

- Register company and pay taxes in different states and countries

- Ensure the smooth running of weekly whole company meetings

- Clean up and maintain google drives with each team lead

- Set up company online database

- Research and provide recommendations for any operations-related topics that come up


2. People ops (20%)

Objective: Recruit and maintain a high performing team

  • Source and field an amazing team

- Aid in sourcing, interviewing and hiring

  • Onboard and continuously upskill the remote team through innovative approaches

- Streamline company and team boarding

- Develop innovative ways to train and upskill team

  • Ensure optimal performance and standards through through KPI setting and performance evaluations

- Develop performance matrix and evaluation process

- Develop career progression levels

  • Increase motivation, engagement and happiness through compensation and benefits

- Develop and improve on compensation levels and structure through time

- Set up company benefits structure and manage it

- Develop and maintain Workstream Happiness Survey/Data

  • Propagate and maintain a strong company culture as the team grows

- Develop and maintain Workstream culture handbook

- Develop and run activities to maintain culture across a remote team

  • Facilitate interaction and communication across teams, regions and levels

- Optimizing weekly team meetings

- Facilitate the planning of retreats (team, region, company)

- Test and implement innovative approaches to build relationships between a remote team (e.g. Donut on Slack)

  • You have experience working on company operations for a Series A stage remote startup of around 40 people

  • You thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
