Position overview

The Communications Associate will work as an integral part of the Marketing department to create communications to our customers for both education and sales, and other marketing activities as assigned to share the company story and brand promise. Candidates should be self-starters, able to work successfully on their own, and able to work collectively to both craft and execute communications to thoughtfully represent a classic, high-end brand. Must be independently motivated to identify and resolve issues at department-level and an accurate proof-reader. At least 2-5 years of working experience in marketing/communications, journalism or another related field is required.

Primary Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions

•Create email communications about wine specials, events, news, Wine Club shipments, Owner communications, among others. •Create monthly trade communications to update the market on winery announcements, sales focus, scores, vintage changes, partnerships, and POS materials. •Lead cross-department communications to ensure hospitality, direct sales, reception, and other relevant departments are always aware of consumer communications going out. •Work with Marketing Manager to manage all social media sites and event listings, including crafting the social media strategy, scheduling content and responding to comments and reviews. •Manage email requests from departments and assist the Marketing Manager in maintaining the communications calendar. •Manage key pages on the website, including events, trade/media, and wine shop, among others. •Write winery, event and wine copy for press releases, email blasts, website, and other communication materials. •Design graphic elements for email headers and specials, social media, website content and event tickets. •Work with Marketing Manager and Graphic Designer to capture content (pictures/videos) of our on-site/off-site events, tasting rooms, vineyards, and people for promotional purposes. •Assist Marketing Manager with public relations outreach, including drafting communications and pitching local media contacts. •Work with Marketing Assistant to maintain digital archives of the company’s earned press, scores, awards, and photography. •Research marketing partnerships and promotional ideas to drive sales. •May assist Graphic Designer with small design projects, depending on strengths, ability, and interest. •Supports our effort to create a more sustainable and “green” environment to improve the company’s positive impact on the environment. •Any other tasks delegated by the Marketing Manager, Winery Director or CEO.


Must have: •At least 2-5 years of working experience in marketing/communications, journalism or another related field is required. •Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. •Possess a basic understanding of Adobe Suite product, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, or the ability to learn. •Possess basic photography skills to capture content for future communications. •Highly developed organizational and time management skills. •Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to delegate tasks with effective follow-up. •Ability to prioritize workload and use sound judgment in completing tasks. •A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. •Ability to adhere to brand standards and writing guidelines. •Ability to use standard CRM, Google Suite, and department-specific related software programs Must be able to : •Obtain a valid/current OLCC Server’s Permit and Food Handler’s Card. •Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and follow through on issues in a timely manner. •Work in a fast-paced office environment. •Work well behind the scenes using discretion and keeping all information confidential. •Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. •Effectively present information and respond to questions appropriately. •Work independently and as part of a team. •Lift 40lbs. •Sit for long periods of time. •Work weekends and evenings if necessary to accomplish key tasks. •Work marketing, wine club or national sales-related winery events as needed to take pictures for promotional purposes. Most of these events are held on evenings or weekends.

•Thorough understanding or a genuine interest in luxury wine business and terminology. •Ability to educate customers about wine with passion, not pretension.
